⚠️ Important: Casino RTP Variants
Pragmatic Play allows operators to run different RTP versions of the same game. The numbers you see below are the maximum (highest) published RTP. Your casino might be running a 94% or 85% version instead. Be sure to open the in-game help panel for more information on RTP before playing for real money.
Which Pragmatic Play Slot Has the Highest RTP?
The highest RTP Pragmatic Play slot in our reviewed library is Triple Pot Diamond at 96.57% — followed by Treasures of Osiris at 96.52% and Steaming Reels at 96.53%. Third place is a cluster of five titles all at 96.51%: Sweet Bonanza, CULT, Big Bass Raceday Repeat, Haunted Crypt, and Tut's Treasure Tower.
If your concern is the single slot with the highest return-to-player, then yes, the Treasures of Osiris slot has the edge. But again, we are talking about a difference in the region of 0.01% to 0.08% here, and I'm struggling to envisage a case in which those kinds of odds would be meaningfully different in practice over the length of a typical or realistic playing session. Volatility will always have a far greater influence on any given play session than an insignificant difference in RTP.
The RTP Warning You Cannot Skip
Most Pragmatic Play slots come with a selection of RTPs – for example 96.50% / 94.00% / 85.00%. The operator gets to decide which is used. The version with an 85% RTP has a 15% house edge — about 4 times larger than the lowest house edge for the other RTPs. It's not a matter of choosing which one is displayed on the reels – I wasn't able to figure out which variant was in use at the two casinos I tested this feature on.
Check the RTP at your site: The only sure way to confirm is to open the slot in play at your online casino, open the info/instructions/rules section, go to the paytable and search for the RTP entry. An RTP of 85% or 94% is not something you'd like to see as it indicates a far reduced slot with lower rewards for players. The RTP listed in this slot review are the highest that have been seen so far. Thus, it is important to verify the RTP at the site you play at prior to making any real-money deposit.
RTP vs Volatility — Understanding the Real Trade-Off
RTP and volatility are not directly correlated. You can have slot machines with a high RTP and high volatility such as Mummy's Jewels 100: 96.50% and high vol, high RTP and medium volatility as in Rolling in Treasures: 96.50% and low RTP and low volatility. Each one gives you a different gaming experience:
- High RTP + Medium Volatility — Rolling in Treasures, Big Bass Raceday Repeat — many small wins balance out the inevitable dry spells, which extends your bankroll and makes you last longer in play. Better for longer sessions or smaller bankrolls.
- High RTP + High Volatility — Treasures of Osiris, Sweet Bonanza, Mummy's Jewels 100 — expect long periods of inactivity punctuated by short bursts of winnings during bonus rounds, ideal for players on the hunt for a huge one-time payout.
- Lower RTP + High Volatility — Wild Skullz at 96.44% — not too far from the 96.50% figure we often quote. In practice, the difference is very small and will be drowned out by the variation between individual runs of a single session, but it's worth being aware of. If the casino was using 94% or 85% instead, the difference would be more noticeable.
How Is RTP Actually Calculated — and Why Doesn't It Match My Sessions?
The RTP is calculated for a simulation of 10 million spins or more by the math studio of the slot, and confirmed by the testing laboratory (BMM, eCOGRA, GLI, etc.). An RTP expresses the mathematical expectation value for a huge number of spin results. It does not express the average return value per round, nor per hour, nor per hundred rounds.
Are the odds really even in a High Volatility slot game? A 500 spin session would be about 1.5 hours with average spins speed. It's more than enough to see a spread of wins and losses where winning 200% or losing 5% of your deposit is something very close to average and does happen very often on high volatility slots due to the inherent high standard deviation, while the 96.51% RTP remains the force to which all results gravitate across many thousands of rounds played by all of the millions of players over time.
The RTP can never be the sole basis to choose a slot to play. You should first determine the volatility that fits best in your bankroll and risk tolerance and then try to get the highest possible RTP for that volatility range.
Does Playing Maximum Bet Improve RTP?
For most Pragmatic Play slots: no. Even older slots with standalone progressive jackpots have typically delivered the same RTP with min. or max. bets (with some rare exceptions), whereas the max. bet has usually only triggered eligibility for the progressives themselves. The same flat RTP holds for all current slots in PP's catalogue. They all deliver the quoted figure regardless of the amount wagered, whether $0.20 or $100 per spin. Only those slots which feature a standalone progressives jackpot funded by wagers at any level should be treated with caution.
Free Demo Testing Strategy for High-RTP Slots
Feel the volatility of a slot before playing for real money. In the free demo on each slot page we recommend counting the number of base game spins between bonus triggers in two to three plays. A number over 200 on the low volatility side, and under 100 on the high volatility side will give you an idea of where the slot falls in terms of volatility, regardless of what the slot vendor labels it. The RTP gives you an idea of the long term return on a slot. Demo play gives you an idea of what the journey to the return is like.
